The Lutheran Faith and Being a Scout in Adventure Scouts USA Print

The Scout Programs of Adventure Scouts USA encourage our Scouts to take a spiritual approach to life.  Our mission is to provide the leadership to support the growth and character development of our co-ed membership and the greater community.  We shall accomplish this by providing contemporary skill-oriented activities that enrich the individuals on a non-discriminatory basis.  We put principles of mutual respect into practice through FUN social activities, enhance character instilled by parents, personal achievement, learning by doing, and related educational programs promoting good character in our members.

Our teams may be sponsored by Lutheran churches and organizations.  Our sponsors are those who work for the benefit of youth.

Through a yearly renewable contract, Team Sponsors use our programming as their youth outreach program for their members, youth in their congregation or organization, and other youth in the community.  Churches and Lutheran organizations who become Team Sponsors can control program content, membership in their team, and religious responsibilities.

We welcome Scouts of faith and provide time to fulfill religious responsibilities.

Together, the Scout Programs of Adventure Scouts USA along with churches and Lutheran organizations can increase participation in youth programming by Lutheran families, and strengthen Lutheran values through character education, our policy of non-discrimination, and a sense of belonging.

An important concept in Lutheranism is free choice.  Choice is a key elements in our Scouts Programs; in fact, our Scouts choose, organize, and lead their own meetings, programs, and activities.   We enable our Scouts to understand and live their life by the six pillars of CHARACTER COUNTS!, and we expect our Scouts to be as good as their word.  Our activities, such as developing true proficiency in outdoor skills, also reflect the importance of self mastery.

Our Scouts also take part in service to the greater community.  Our Scouts regularly adopt comprehensive projects of service which they choose, organize, and lead.  Our highest award, the Challenger Award, is a comprehensive undertaking which results in a substantial change for their communities, and must be sustainable without them.
