Keeping Teen Scouts Interested PDF Print E-mail

Highlights:

We feature several programs exclusively for Scouts 14 and up

These programs enable our Scouts to interact with community movers and shakers and be of service to their communities

We are aware that as youth grow up, their tastes change and so do the ways in which they want to spend their time.  Statistics show youth become less interested in the many Scout Programs and Scout Organizations after the age of 14.  Our Scout Programs differ because our Scouts choose, organize, and lead their own meetings, programs, and activities.  Our Scouts get the opportunity to participate in adventures which are FUN and interest older youth.teen

Programs of Interest to Teen Scouts

The Community Resource Awareness Program

The Community Awareness Program is a program our Scouts organize, lead, and participate in with community leaders.  Community leaders, business people, leaders from community organizations and non-profits get together and visit the resources available in their community.  It is an opportunity for them to come together to acquire information about their community and its resources.  It is also an opportunity for them to make contacts, network, and meet new people.

The Leader Roundtable Program

The Leader Roundtable Program is a program our Scouts organize, lead, and participate in with community leaders, business people, leaders from community organizations and non-profits.  They get together to discuss what true leadership is.  It is an opportunity for community leaders, business people, leaders from community organizations and non-profits to come together to acquire information about each other, their respective organizations, and get new insight on how to lead.  It is also an opportunity for them to make contacts, network, and meet new people.

Each leader describes their own leadership style and their own successes and failures.  A community leader may discover a something that has successfully worked elsewhere during this program and implement it, helping them to better serve the community and those they serve.

The Mover and Shaker Seminar Program

A Mover and Shaker is someone with power and influence in a certain field.  Our Scouts meet with such notables as the Mayor, Police Chief, business leaders, community leaders, and anyone the Scouts would like to meet with who is doing something new and interesting in the community. teens working together Our Scouts get the opportunity to acquire knowledge from some of the most successful people in the community!

The Seminar our Scouts attend is an interactive session in which our Scouts acquire new information via learning-by-doing.

A group of no more than 50 Scouts meet with a particular Mover and Shaker once a week.  The next week, the Scouts meet with a different Mover and Shaker.  Over the course of 4-8 weeks, our Scouts meet with a different Mover and Shaker every week, allowing them the opportunity to meet many people and acquire a lot of new knowledge.

The Entrepreneur Seminar Program

An Entrepreneur is someone who takes a business risk by turning an opportunity into a profit or by owning and managing a business they created themselves.  Our Scouts meet with business leaders and community leaders who have taken the risk to create something new.  Our Scouts get the opportunity to acquire knowledge from some of the most successful people in their community!
