How-To Use the Good Time Candle PDF Print E-mail

A candle should be brought to the meeting that can reasonably burn down within a few meetings, so the candle should not be very big, not also it should not be a tea light that will burn down within hours.

The candle must be wax.  Soot-free is preferred but not required.  The candle should be within glass and set on a heat-proof surface or dish.  Do not use a gel candle as they have been linked to possible fire danger.

The Good Time Candle burns as long as the meeting is orderly and everyone is having FUN.  It is blown out if Scouts demonstrate poor behavior.  When the candle burns out completely after a few meetings, the team will receive a reward.

If their behavior is good, the candle should be able to burn out within a few meetings.  Rising Star Scouts are young and should receive a reward for good behavior within a short time frame.
