Geo Caching is a FUN activity Scouts take part in with their team.  It is also a great activity for a family to take part in.  It is modern treasure hunt in which our Scouts gain knowledge of use of GPS by using the GPS to locate items.

Items are placed in specific spots.  How far apart they are is up to our Scouts.  Scouts can look for things in a backyard or throughout their community.  Before the treasure hunt, someone places in these items in certain spots and then records the exact GPS location of them.  Once a team finds one item, the item will include another GPS location for the next item.

Scouts follow the GPS directions until they have completed the treasure hunt.  This activity is FUN, but also a great way to introduce our Scouts to use of a GPS device.
